I started working for a very small company a few years ago, and then I started my own little empire across the world. I have offices in the USA, Europe, Australia, and Japan. I have had some offices quit for about 6 months, and then quit again after about 9 months. In between those two stints, I had some other jobs.
I feel like every time I sit down to update my resume, I take a look at the formatting, the space, and then I go back and update everything. I can’t tell if I’m just being paranoid, but I have a feeling that Google Docs is screwing with the formatting.
It’s simple, straight to the point, and gets the point across without wasting line space or wasting your reader’s time. It’s the ultimate in reader-friendly writing. It’s the resume equivalent of a well-written essay. It’s the resume that puts the “I know what I’m doing” factor into every resume writer’s hands.
It’s clean. It’s professional. It’s not something I do for fun. I am a professional. I go to school for a master of science in engineering. I pass the national exam for that master’s program. I am also the treasurer of two clubs, a math club and a club for engineering design. I have a B. S.
I used this template and got 3 phone interviews within the first two days!
I used this template for my last 3 jobs. I applied to about 300 jobs and only got 2 phone screens. I didn’t get an offer. The advice on this site was so helpful. I had no idea about formatting, I was told to use a template from an old resume that was pretty good. I had no idea about what skills to put and no idea about how to tailor my resume to each job.
I used this template to land my current job. I have not updated this template for any recent changes in job requirements. I simply apply the changes as they come due. The only reason I don’t have a new template is because I simply don’t have the time. I have a lot of responsibilities, and I don’t know how to consolidate them.
I’ve worked in a major US city for over 10 years. During that time, I’ve held 4 different positions, including (but not limited to) the following:I’ve held these positions at different times, and I’m proud of them, but they’re not what I want to highlight.
I used this template to land two jobs within one week. I’m telling you this because I want you to understand how using the above template saved me from being unemployed for the past five months. It also allows me to explain any formatting issues so you don’t have to spend hours trying to figure out why something is under a certain category.
It is very clean . No color, no pattern, no nothing else. Just straight to the point, clear, concise. It is still readable . Even if you are not a graphic designer, a lot of your audience will be. I see a lot of resumes that are filled with graphics and stuff that really make no sense to me.
