Without hard work, nothing grows but weeds. Well, without a good resume, most of the time, nothing improves in a career. At its core, Saxton was designed to capture the attention of employers – mainly due to its choice of earth-tone colors and clever table placement. Ideal for jobseekers that have a bunch to say, it provides enough room for just about any area of expertise you can think of.
- You can retain its minimalist look as is, or throw in a few more background colors other than brown to spice things up some.
- With the 3 columned bullets under your executive summary, you can list off your hard skills, change the line spacing, and the text’s font face.
- Don’t like the brown table background? Tweak the colors, change to a preset diagonal gradient if you want, and add flourishes or dashes to the outside border.
- Seem too basic still? Get ideas from the extensive category library.
- Switch the checkered shaped to a shade or pattern you like best from word’s fill effects options.
- Included are matching sectional icons, images, and bordered headings in the download pack you can insert to liven up the resume a bit.

You can have your content written or formatted in any way you want. I’ve even seen examples with cartoon characters on resumes. It’s amazing what a beautiful blank page will do for you. I’ve made a few of those since I was young, but this is the best looking, easiest to read, and most effective resume I’ve ever seen.
I used this template to apply for two internships, both of which I was accepted to. I had applied for the first one when I had first applied for my current job, and the second one when I had just applied. I did not apply for the first one through my college. This one was through my college. I got my job through my current employer. I am so grateful that my current employer allowed me to keep my internship.
Love how this resume template lets you take advantage of table-based layouts which allow you to control every pixel. In addition, tables let you easily add text, borders, borders, text boxes, columns, and more. This is a HUGE factor when it comes to making sure your resume is readable.
I went with a very simple theme to keep things clean and simple. One page. Simple. No bullshit. Let the resume speak for itself. Truth be told, the more creative and creative the better. But whatever you do, do NOT make this resume look like a kids toy. That is a surefire way to get it ripped off and laughed at. Trust me on this one.
You do not need tons of experience to get a job, especially in this economy, so choosing the right kind of job and the best possible resume can make all the difference. Here are the main reasons why people usually do not get a job they wanted or applied to: Not enough experience. Not a good enough resume bc it is not targeted enough.
The combination of the clean template and the wonderful advice I found on this site will ensure that your next resume looks better than any other resume I have seen. I cannot recommend enough that you check out the template if you are looking for a new resume. It is simple, it is effective, it is a great value and it is a great starting point for your resume.
I’m not using a cover letter as I am submitting my resume and I will likely remove the cover letter from the template when I submit it, once I figure out what I need to add/remove/change. I have been searching for jobs for months and I have not gotten any call backs, I am not even getting interviews, I am just being offered the minimum wage jobs that I am not qualified for.
I personally feel like the original boil-it-down-to-the-essential-points template sucks. There’s just nothing “original” about it. It just lists out all the stuff you *can’t* list out in bullet points.
100%. 100% bullet proof (well, maybe not 100%, but damn it looks damn good). You have 0% chance of landing a job interviewing with this resume, unless you happen to have the exact same resume as the person who made it.
It allowed me to fit all the relevant information on one page without sacrificing the story I wanted to tell. I cut out two previous jobs (summer camp counselor and retail store clerk) that didn’t add anything to my career. I also cut out any non-relevant coursework to increase the importance of my professional experience.
